What and When is the European Sustainable Energy Week?
The European Sustainable Energy Week is one of the largestevents dedicated to initiatives supporting energy transition at an international scale.
The creator of this annual event is theEuropean Commission, which launched the first edition in 2006 in order to share ideas and knowledge, and promote projects that will help meet the climate change objectives for 2020.EASME(Executive Agency for SMEs) is currently responsible for its organisation.
Although it appears to be a week-long initiative, as its name suggests, this is not the case. In reality, different activities take place during the months of May and June such as forums, events and workshops, all related to the transition to a clean and sustainable energy system.So why is it called Sustainable Energy Week?
It’s very simple! This is because a week-long event is organised, during which public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers come together. The aim of this event is to connect and engage all those interested in achieving energy efficiency, energy saving, climate change and transition to clean and renewable energy.
This year (2019), for example, the meeting point will be in Brussels from 17th to 21st of June. In addition, it coincides with the “Energy Week”, an event in which different campaigns are carried out to promote energy saving and efficiency.

4 Reasons to Participate in EUSEW 2019
Now that you know what this event is all about, you may be considering whether going to EUSEW 2019 week or not. To clarify your doubts, here are the4 reasons why you shouldn’t miss itand should participate:
1. You will be able to catch up on sustainable energy issues.During the EUSEW, the EnergyPolicy Conferencewill take place on the 18th, 19th and 20th.
The main topic of theEUSEW 2019 conferences is “Shaping Europe’s energy future”and includes 12 general subjects that you can consult in theconference agenda.
In these conferences, you will be able to get updated on energy issues and learn about European policies regarding renewable energies and sustainability. Some of the topics that will be addressed are the advances achieved in:
→ Energy storage
→ Financing sustainable energy
→ Alternative fuels
→ Smart Concentrators
2. You will meet and make new contacts with other professionals in the sectorwith whom you will be able to share ideas and knowledge, and of course, make your project known thanks to the“Networking Village”(from 18th to 20th of June).
In this area of the EUSEW (Networking Village), you will have the opportunity to exchange information, policies and best practices on innovation in the field of energy. It is also very interesting as the EUSEW Policy Conferences and Energy Days across the EU attract energy experts and agencies, policymakers, private companies, NGOs, industry associations and the media.
When networking, you will find stands, exhibitions, presentations and you will be able to hold individual meetings if needed. For example, among the stands, you will find one of the R&D projects in which DEXMA is involved together with 10 Partners from more than 5 European countries, theRESPOND Project.
TheRESPOND Projectis a great example of an initiative that supports the energy transition. This particular project seeks to lead the neighbourhoods towards an effic的流动和可持续能源模型由于活跃Demand Response and its combination with renewable energies. In fact, it is already being carried out in 3 pilots located in 3 different areas of the EU, where it is managing energy use reduction in district, and as a result, lowering costs for its inhabitants. 3. You will witness the “EU Sustainable Energy Awards“.
These awards recognise innovation in energy efficiency, renewable energy and clean transport within the EU.
The application process for the competition is now closed, but you may be interested in participating for next year. You only need to be a EU citizen to submit your project, which can range from a local initiative to a full programme for a particular sector. Any initiative that can help citizens, industry and the public sector to work towards the Energy Union can be a candidate.

4.And last but not least, take part in theEnergy Days, which are being held all over Europe during the months of May and June.
These are activities and events carried out by both public and private organisations, in order to raise awareness about energy efficiency, and help the transition to clean energy.
